It was evident as people were arriving that the camaraderie in the home was blossoming, even though few of us knew each other very well. Some had been together in this church choir for at least two decades; others, for less than two months. Still, the "new" people felt as much a part of the group as the veterans. Tough And Fearsome Times Of Life

My mother in law was sick for almost 5 years. I never like to think of those days which were really fearful. She was bed ridden for about 1 year and was having many wounds in the body. The internet benefits me very much in my daily life. Email and facebook enable me to keep in touch with old friends and family. Sports

Sports are a great thing in life and even though I do not play on a team there are still some sports that I like to regularly practice or play with friends. Important Person in My Life

I guess the most important person in my life is my 22 year old son. It is not as if we are joined at the hip because we each lead full lives. He has finished school and is working and lives near me. We don't always see a lot of each other, but I have to say that we understand each other and enjoy each other's company. This is especially important to me because I was not raised very well or lovingly, and it feels good to know that I am so connected to another human being by blood as well as by affinity and sense of humor. I have other children, so I know that this is not something to be taken for granted. I love them all the same but this is a pretty special relationship in my life.

The Last Five Years

If I were to redo the last five years of life, I would attempt to do better in college. I would make a more conscious effort to have all of my credits carry over to the college I transferred to. I would be more diligent about saving and investing, and would try to find a job - even just a part time job - that was more relevant to what I want to do. I wish I had been more aggressive in getting published and finding unique ways of making money, rather than grubbing by with menial jobs. I wish I had travelled a bit more.

Motivation

One of the things that motivate me to keep going and going is spite. It seems like a negative thing to say, but one of the best types of revenge is living well. I regularly do cycling. Previously I could not stand cycling as it always seemed a waste of time to me. I had always done lots of running and team sports. Unfortunately I had suffered an injury and had to engage in a lower impact sport. I recently bought a spin bike so I spend a lot of time exercising indoors. This is ideal for miserable wet and windy days. I generally spend at least an hour a day on the bike. I like to turn up the resistance to make it incredibly challenging. I used to have an ordinary stationery bike but it got a little tedious.

I'm one of those people that love movies and can never decide on a favorite one. My favorite movie changes as much as I change my underwear! There is one movie I always go back to as being my favorite and that would be Dirty Dancing. I loved Patrick Swayze in it and the quote 'Nobody puts baby in a corner' has come to be one of my favourites. The ending dance is probably my favorite scene of the whole movie. I love watching it because it helps cheer me up when I'm down and takes my mind off my real life problems. It's probably the one movie I will always remember Patrick Swayze for and he was great in it!

Food Lover

I used to love any and all kinds of food but after losing a lot of weight, I have come to only truly love healthy foods that taste amazingly delicious. If I only had to choose from three things to eat for the rest of my life, I would have to make sure salads were on the list with whatever toppings I desire. I love a good old classic salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and Italian dressing. Yum! I've also come to recently love squash. I especially love it when it's been grilled! The last food would have to be chicken. It's my favorite meat and I don't know what I would do without it!

Christmas Is For the Kids

Now that I'm no longer a kid, Christmas doesn't hold the same charm as it used to. When I was a child, I loved getting presents. It was the best part, besides the home made mashed potatoes. I loved getting clothes and books, especially. I have a child of my own and I feel like Christmas should be more focused on the children. I still love getting gifts but I don't expect them like I used to. Growing up. That's one thing I miss about my childhood. Not having a care in the world, being on winter break, eating good home cooked food, and opening many, many presents!

I Travel to Have Fun

Who are my travel buddies? They are not family. I have been there and done that. They are not my wives or girlfriends (not married -- thank GOD). Nor are they friends from work. The people I tend to travel with are the ones I have common interests. For instance, on my last travel jaunt, I went to Las Vegas for a Star Trek Convention. We saw Avery Brooks, who was Captain Sisko from Deep Space Nine, and Nichelle Nichols from the original series Star Trek. My friends and I collected autographs, watched videos, and upcoming attractions. On another travel gig, a travel companion and I went Mexico -- Cancun specifically -- and we sat on the beach. We went swimming in the cyan blue ocean. We went too quite a few bars and a pirate themed restaurant. I think of this trip, often, and it is the reason why I do not travel with girlfriends to this day. Although, I have pleasant memories, when we return from the trip “the companion” soon broke up afterwards. So I only travel with people that have a vested interest in having fun and have a common interest, such as science fiction -- or anthropology.

The House Where I Live

There are two living rooms in the house I live, and both have a huge window to offer panorama. Since the rooms are situated on the same side, I plan to raise a wall in one of those instead of the window, so I could set up a canvas there. Recently I have made a superb purchase of a projector, and that wall would make one splendid base for a home cinema experience. Yet another reason that this arrangement might be realized in the future is that my girlfriend and I are both avid video game players, and we prefer to play the recent favourites in larger than life fashion.

Interested In Travelling

When I’m travelling, I am interested in the history of a place, but only because it has helped to shape the present culture and psyche of its people. I tend to prefer cultural museums over art museums and get little pleasure from visiting churches or looking at interesting buildings (unless I am with my father, who inevitably can explain why the building is architecturally significant from a structural point of view – that is endlessly fascinating).What I do love about travel are sensory experiences. I can easily spend a day in a food market, sampling local delicacies, watching how the local people choose produce and bargain for things, discovering interesting new products and food items and chatting to the vendors. Good eating is very important to me when travelling .Similarly; we noted that we would walk hours to see a waterfall or other natural wonders.
